No sales presentation. No commitment. Just a conversation about how your business works and whether we might be able to help.

Team collaborating on business strategy

Most businesses don't need more software.

They need the software they already have to work better together.

Over time, businesses naturally accumulate systems, spreadsheets and processes.

  • One team exports a CSV.
  • Someone else copies figures into Excel.
  • Management reports take half a day to prepare.
  • Information lives in one system but is needed in another.
  • And important work depends on somebody remembering to do it.

Individually, none of these problems seem enormous. Together, they consume a surprising amount of time.

That's where automation can help.

Person working on complex spreadsheets

Two practical ways we can help.

We focus first on the places where information gets stuck: between systems, or between your data and the people who need to understand it.

Connected business systems
System Bridge

Make your existing systems work together.

Stop exporting files, re-keying information and maintaining the same data in two places. We build reliable connections between the software, databases, APIs and business processes you already use.

Typical examples

  • CRM ↔ ERP
  • Website or portal → back-office system
  • Supplier file or SFTP → stock system
  • ERP → shipping, finance or reporting
Operational and management reporting
Operational Reporting

Get the report without producing the report.

We collect and combine information from the systems you already use, calculate the measures that matter and automatically deliver useful operational or management reporting.

Typical examples

  • Weekly management packs
  • Sales, margin and backlog reporting
  • Operational exception reporting
  • Automated commentary on material changes

And where repetitive work sits around those processes, we automate that too.

If a process follows understandable rules, parts of it can often be automated: gathering information, checking conditions, creating documents, notifying somebody or triggering the next stage.

Have a system gap or a report that eats hours?

And yes, sometimes AI is useful.

AI can analyse information, summarise activity, identify patterns and generate useful commentary. But it isn't the starting point.

For reporting, the underlying figures and calculations should remain deterministic. Where appropriate, AI can then turn validated facts into clear commentary about changes, trends and exceptions.

We start with the business problem. Sometimes the right solution includes AI. Sometimes it's an API, a database query, an automated workflow or a small piece of bespoke software. Usually it's a combination.

The technology comes after understanding the problem.

What could this look like in practice?

Operational reporting

The same management report, every Friday.

Before

Someone exports sales from the ERP, combines it with targets from Excel, checks late orders and spends half a day building the report.

After

The information is collected and calculated automatically. The finished report is ready on schedule, with material movements and exceptions highlighted.

System Bridge

The customer exists in two systems.

Before

Sales creates the customer in the CRM. Somebody later creates the same record again in the ERP and keeps both systems updated manually.

After

The approved customer record moves automatically between systems, with failures or exceptions sent to the right person for review.

Information flow

A supplier sends a structured file every morning.

Before

A member of staff downloads it, reformats columns and imports it into another system.

After

The file is picked up automatically, validated and transformed, then loaded into the destination system. Only rejected data needs attention.

Start with a conversation.

1

Free 30-minute conversation

We talk about your business, your systems and where work currently gets stuck. This isn't a sales presentation.

2

Identify the opportunity

If there's nothing useful we can do, we'll tell you. If there is, we'll agree what needs investigating next.

3

Discovery

Some opportunities can be quoted directly. More complex work may need a short paid discovery phase, where we map the process, investigate the systems involved and define a sensible solution. If appropriate, that discovery cost can be credited against the implementation.

4

Build & improve

Once the problem is understood, we design and implement the automation, integration or reporting solution. Start small where possible. Prove that it works. Improve from there.

Built around real operational systems.

Necto Consulting is led by an experienced software engineering and technology leader with a background in production systems, APIs, integration, reporting and operational software.

That means we understand the difference between a clever demo and something a business can safely rely on every day.

Your systems and data are treated seriously.

Solutions are designed with appropriate isolation, access control, monitoring and backups. We minimise the data we handle and work with existing security controls wherever possible.

We choose the technology around the problem — established automation tools where they fit, bespoke software where they don't.

Automation should make your business simpler, not more complicated.

The principles are simple:

Useful

It solves a real problem.

Understandable

You shouldn't need a computer science degree to understand what it does.

Reliable

Critical processes shouldn't depend on clever demos and crossed fingers.

Proportionate

Not every problem needs a giant software project.

Owned by the business

Technology should support the way your business needs to operate — not dictate it.

There might be an easier way to do this.

Tell us about the report, system gap or repetitive information flow that's frustrating you. We'll spend 30 minutes understanding it and see whether there's a sensible opportunity to improve it.
